How MEQ works

MEQ is one number for a simple question: is your life compounding?

Most metrics tell you what you did today. MEQ tells you whether the things you did build on each other — whether this month’s work, health, relationships and systems are worth more together than they were last month. It’s slow on purpose. Real assets — skill, trust, fitness, reputation — don’t spike; they accrue.

Where the number comes from

Every week, ME+A measures your Life Capital: how much of your time went into things that keep paying off (deep work that ships, health you protected, relationships you invested in) versus things that only counted once. A week above the line adds to your balance; a thin week gently draws it down. MEQ is that running balance, mapped onto a 0–1000 scale.

Why it moves the way it does

A strong month nudges MEQ up a little; a strong year moves it a lot — because compounding rewards consistency, not bursts. It gets harder to move the higher it goes (like any real rating you’d trust). It eases the same way it climbs — a quiet month draws it down no faster than a good month built it. Rest weeks and sick weeks don’t count against you — the number simply pauses.

What it is not

It’s not a productivity score, not a comparison to anyone else, and not something you can game. There are no leaderboards and never will be. MEQ only makes sense against your own history.

The honest part

MEQ leans hardest on the measurements we have the strongest evidence for. As ME+A learns your patterns, the number gets sharper. Until it’s had enough weeks to mean something, we show it as still building — never a made-up figure.

the details

MEQ = 1000 · (1 − e−B/600)

MEQ is your Life-Capital balance B mapped by this curve — one that gives equal felt progress for proportional gains (the Weber–Fechner law of magnitude perception) and asymptotes toward 1000 without ever reaching it, so the rating stays earnable for life. The same curve runs in reverse for a decline, so gains and erosion are symmetric.
